Today I was able to diffuse two situations at the therapeutic treatment program I work at with only a red clown nose.
Yesterday was" Red Nose Day" it is a fundraiser for Comic Relief a charity that helps kids.
I bought close to twenty for my students. I thought it would be a nice walk to the store to buy them, it would be good to support this charity, and red noses would be powerful tools in a therapeutic setting.
Imagine someone in crisis, extremely upset, and ready to lose it. And they are approached by a staff member with a larger red clown nose. They will be hard pressed not to smile. I tried this twice today and once yesterday and so far 100% success rate.
